What’s New in 2026
  • SIM limit increased: You can now have up to 8 SIMs on one CNIC — 5 voice + 3 data SIMs (previously 5 total)
  • PTA crackdown: 4.7 million unauthorized SIM registrations detected on stolen CNICs in 2025
  • Unverified SIMs blocked automatically after 120 days without biometric verification
  • Use SMS code 668 (not 667) to check all SIMs on your CNIC — works on all networks

In Pakistan, every SIM card must be registered under the owner’s verified CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card). But fraud is rising fast — in 2025, PTA discovered 4.7 million SIMs were registered on CNICs without the owner’s knowledge. If someone has your CNIC details, they can register SIMs in your name and use them for fraud, scams, or even terrorism — and you’d be legally responsible.

This updated 2026 guide shows you exactly how to check, verify, and block any SIM registered under your CNIC — in under 60 seconds.

Why Checking SIM Ownership Is Important

Most Pakistanis don’t check their SIM registrations until a problem occurs. Here’s why you should check right now:

  • Fraud Prevention: Someone with a copy of your CNIC can register SIMs in your name without you knowing
  • Legal Liability: If a SIM on your CNIC is used in a crime, you can be held accountable by law enforcement
  • Identity Theft: SIM-based identity theft is one of the fastest-growing crimes in Pakistan
  • Financial Safety: Banking OTPs and mobile wallets (Easypaisa, JazzCash) are SIM-linked — a rogue SIM can drain your account

Method 1 — SMS Code 668 (Fastest & Free)

1

Check All SIMs on Your CNIC via SMS — Send to 668

This is the official PTA method that works on all networks (Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone). It shows every SIM registered under your CNIC — not just the one you’re messaging from.

Message Your 13-digit CNIC
Send to 668

Example: If your CNIC is 3520112345671, type that number and send it to 668.

  • Open the SMS/Messages app on your phone
  • Type your 13-digit CNIC number (no dashes, no spaces)
  • Send to 668
  • You’ll receive a reply listing all SIMs registered on your CNIC with their network names
✅ Free Service This SMS is free of charge on all networks as per PTA regulations. No deduction from balance.
⚠️ Don’t Confuse 668 with 667 Code 667 is for checking the registered owner of a specific SIM number (sends “MNP”). Code 668 shows ALL SIMs on your CNIC. Always use 668 for your complete registration check.

Method 2 — PTA Online Portal

2

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority — cnic.sims.pk

PTA runs an official online portal where you can check SIM registrations without using your phone balance. Useful if you don’t have mobile service or want a record on screen.

  • Open a browser and go to cnic.sims.pk
  • Enter your 13-digit CNIC number (no dashes)
  • Complete the CAPTCHA verification
  • Click Submit
  • The portal will display all SIMs registered to your CNIC, with network names
💡 Pro Tip If you spot a number you don’t recognize, note the network operator shown next to it — that’s who you need to call to block it. See the blocking guide below.

Method 3 — NADRA Helpline 7000

3

NADRA Inquiry via Helpline — Dial 7000

If you prefer speaking to an automated system or need additional NADRA-related verification, the helpline 7000 can assist with SIM registration queries.

  • Dial 7000 from any mobile phone in Pakistan
  • Listen to the IVR menu and select the SIM verification option
  • Enter your CNIC number using the dialpad when prompted
  • The system will verbally confirm registered SIM details linked to your CNIC
📞 Note Standard call charges apply. Have your CNIC ready before calling. For live agent support, call times 9 AM – 5 PM, Monday to Friday.

How to Block Unauthorized SIMs on Your CNIC

If your 668 check reveals a SIM you never registered, act immediately. Here are all available options:

Option A — Online via PTA Complaint Portal (Fastest)

  • Visit complaint.pta.gov.pk
  • Select “Unauthorized SIM Registration” as the complaint type
  • Enter your CNIC, the unauthorized number, and your contact details
  • Submit — PTA will block the SIM and notify you within 24–48 hours

Option B — Visit Network Franchise

  • Visit the nearest franchise of the network shown against the unauthorized SIM
  • Bring your original CNIC
  • Request immediate SIM block and de-registration
  • Receive a confirmation SMS once completed

Option C — Call Network Helpline

Call the helpline of the relevant network (Jazz: 111, Zong: 310, Telenor: 345, Ufone: 333). Ask the agent to block the unauthorized SIM after identity verification with your CNIC number.

⚠️ Act Immediately An unauthorized SIM can be used for financial fraud, SIM-swap attacks, or criminal activities — all traced back to your CNIC. Don’t delay if you find an unfamiliar number.

NADRA Biometric Verification System (BVS)

Since 2015, Pakistan requires biometric fingerprint verification for all new SIM activations. This system, managed by NADRA, ensures only the rightful CNIC owner can activate a SIM in their name.

  • You visit any network retailer or franchise with your original CNIC
  • Your fingerprints are scanned on a biometric device connected to NADRA’s database
  • NADRA authenticates your identity in real time
  • Only after successful verification can the SIM be activated
📌 Important 2026 Rule Any SIM that has not completed biometric verification is automatically blocked after 120 days. If you recently got a new SIM and it stopped working, visit your nearest franchise for biometric re-verification.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many SIMs can be registered on one CNIC in 2026?
As of 2026, PTA allows a maximum of 8 SIMs per CNIC — 5 voice SIMs and 3 data-only SIMs. This was increased from the previous limit of 5 total SIMs to accommodate growing mobile broadband needs.
Is checking SIM registration free?
Yes. Sending your CNIC to 668 is completely free on all networks — no balance deduction. The PTA online portal at cnic.sims.pk is also free to use.
Can I check the owner of someone else’s SIM number?
You can send “MNP” to 667 to get basic ownership info (registered name and network) of any number. However, due to privacy laws, complete CNIC details will not be disclosed. Only the registered name may be returned.
What if I find a SIM registered on my CNIC that I don’t recognize?
File a complaint immediately at complaint.pta.gov.pk or visit the nearest franchise of the relevant network. You can also call PTA at 0800-55055 (free helpline). The unauthorized SIM can be blocked within 24–48 hours.
What is the difference between SMS to 667 and 668?
668 — Send your CNIC number to 668. This shows all SIMs registered under your CNIC across all networks. This is what you should use for a full check.

667 — Send “MNP” to 667. This returns the registered owner’s name and network for the specific SIM you’re messaging from. It’s a per-SIM owner lookup, not a full CNIC audit.
Why was my new SIM blocked automatically?
Under 2026 PTA rules, any SIM that has not completed biometric fingerprint verification through NADRA within 120 days of activation is automatically blocked. Visit your network’s franchise with your original CNIC to complete biometric verification and reactivate your SIM.
Can foreigners (non-Pakistani) check SIM registrations?
Foreigners in Pakistan register SIMs using their NICOP (National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis) or Passport number. The 668 SMS method works with NICOP numbers. Non-Pakistani nationals use their passport, which can be verified through their respective network franchise.
