With an estimated budget of Rs. 11 billion, this ambitious project aims to establish a connection between the city and the motorway, enhancing travel convenience for the approximately 600,000 residents of Gujranwala.

Unveiling the Project Details

The Gujranwala Motorway Link Project is currently in progress, with construction commencing just last month.

This project involves the creation of a 58.1-kilometer-long stretch of road, complete with two strategically positioned flyovers. These improvements will effectively link Gujranwala to an interchange near Mooramanabad.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gujranwala, Fayyaz Aslam, emphasized that the construction process will not disrupt the motorway's regular operations. Furthermore, Aslam confidently stated that the project will be completed within an impressive span of 90 days, ensuring swift and efficient progress.

The Economic and Communal Impact

This initiative marks a turning point for Gujranwala, a city currently lacking direct access to the motorway. Once the link project is finalized, residents will benefit from expedited travel to various parts of the nation. Notably, this development is anticipated to invigorate economic activities within the region.

Looking Ahead: The Significance and Prospects

The impending toll rate alterations for the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2) and the ongoing Gujranwala Motorway Link Project are set to leave a substantial impact on both local and national levels. These developments reflect the evolving needs of a growing populace and the continuous efforts of the NHA to optimize transportation infrastructure.

As the toll rates are revised, it becomes crucial for travelers to factor in these adjustments when planning their journeys.

On the other hand, the Gujranwala Motorway Link Project stands as a testament to innovative urban planning, aligning with the broader objective of enhancing connectivity and accessibility.

The National Highway Authority's decision to modify toll tax rates on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2) warrants attention from commuters and stakeholders alike.
