The rape of a woman on the Lahore Highway on Wednesday evening sparked a riot across the country, and many voiced dissatisfaction with the safety of women in Pakistan. Many public figures immediately took to social media to demand immediate justice, and some advocated public execution of the perpetrators.
The anger was fueled by the controversial comments made by newly appointed Lahore Police Chief Umar Sheikh. During an interview Thursday morning, Sheikh had suggested that the victim should have been more careful. “What surprises me is that as a mother of three (small) children and as the sole driver (unaccompanied by an adult man) why not take the GT road with the people? If nothing else, they had their fuel he said.

Mansha Pasha emphasized that in such incidents there are many perpetrators, none of whom are victims. The first crime is committed by the rapist. The second by those accusing the woman. The third by the cops who do nothing. ' And the fourth of those who don't say anything. The only one who is totally innocent is the victim, ”Pasha said.

The second by those who blame the woman.
The third by the officials who do nothing.
And the fourth by those who say nothing.
The only one blameless in entirety is the victim.
Ayesha Omar pointed out that she feels much more secure as a woman abroad. What if a woman goes out at night for an emergency? What if she or someone in her family needs medical attention? I can walk down the street in other parts of the world at 1am and feel completely safe, but just not in my own country, not even in a car, ”said the Bulbulay actor

Mehwish Hayat echoed the same views, noting that punishment would be useless if the collective mindset were not changed. "How is it that women in Singapore can go home safely at 4am? Why can't we have the same sense of security here ?! Are we living in a civilized society or in a jungle? Shout out all you can if it publicly wants to "hanging by rapists - nothing happens until the mindset changes! Said Hayat.

Was in Waziristan where there was no internet. Shocked and horrified to learn of the #motorwayincident. Condemn the horrific barbarism that took place in the strongest terms. Demand the perpetrators to be brought to justice..We stand in solidarity with the victim and her children

Kind of disgusted we are calling it the #motorwayincident , it’s far from just an ‘incident’ , a woman was dragged from her car and gang raped in front of her small children. That’s a scene from a horror film! Call it what it is #MotorWayRape
