Pakistan Rangers Punjab has opened the 2026 recruitment cycle for general-duty soldiers. Online registration is open on the official Pakistan Rangers Punjab website, and the registration window closes on 26 August 2026. The minimum qualification is Matric, the age range is 18 to 30, and the selection process is a written test, a physical test, a medical exam, and an interview. Here is who is eligible, what the physical standards are, and the seven-step process to apply before the deadline.

What the Rangers are recruiting for

Pakistan Rangers is a federal paramilitary force under the Ministry of Interior. It operates two wings: Punjab and Sindh. The 2026 recruitment cycle announced this month is for the Punjab wing, and the vacancies are for the rank of Sepoy (general-duty soldier). The Sindh wing runs a separate cycle later in the year, with a different schedule and a different online portal.

Sepoys in Pakistan Rangers Punjab are deployed along the Punjab border with India, on internal-security duties in Punjab, and on election and disaster-relief deployments. The service is a federal position with a defined pay scale, pension, and the standard armed-forces benefits. Promotion to Naik is by time-scale and is automatic after four years of service; promotion beyond Naik is by competitive examination within the force.

Who is eligible

Eligibility for the 2026 cycle is straightforward. Four rules apply across the board:

1. Pakistani male citizen. The recruitment is for male citizens only. Female recruitment in Pakistan Rangers is a separate cycle announced separately and is not part of this advertisement.
2. Age 18 to 30 years. The age is calculated from the closing date of registration, 26 August 2026. There is a 5-year relaxation for already-serving paramilitary and armed-forces personnel, and the standard 15-year relaxation for candidates from the scheduled castes, Buddhist, and recognised tribal communities. The relaxation is on the upper age limit only, not the lower one.
3. Matric (Secondary School Certificate) or equivalent. The qualification is the same across all vacancies. Candidates with higher qualifications are eligible, but the recruitment is at the Sepoy level regardless of additional degrees. Candidates awaiting their Matric result are not eligible to apply in this cycle.
4. Physical and medical fitness. The candidate must meet the height, chest, and weight standards, and must be free of any disqualifying medical condition. The full physical and medical standard is published in the advertisement on the official website.

There is a separate quota for sons of serving or retired armed forces and paramilitary personnel. The quota is 25% of the total vacancies, and candidates applying under this quota must upload the relevant service certificate of the parent.

The physical standard

The physical test is the first stage of the selection process after the written test, and the standard is fixed. The published requirements for male candidates are:

• Height: 5 feet 6 inches (167 cm) minimum. A 1-inch relaxation is allowed for candidates from the northern areas, the tribal areas, and the scheduled castes.
• Chest: 32 inches minimum (34 inches expanded). The chest measurement is taken with the candidate shirtless and breathing normally; the expanded measurement is taken with the candidate breathing out fully.
• Weight: Not less than 48 kg and not more than 65 kg. The weight-to-height ratio is also checked at the medical stage.
• Running: 1.6 km (1 mile) in 7 minutes. The run is on a flat, marked track, and the candidate is timed individually. There is no second chance on the run.
• Push-ups: 20 in 1 minute. The form is strict — chest must touch the ground at the bottom, and the body must be straight at the top. The test is supervised.
• Sit-ups: 20 in 1 minute. Knees are bent, hands are behind the head, and the candidate must come up to a seated position with the elbows touching the knees.
• Chin-ups: 5 in 1 minute for male candidates. The pull is from a dead hang with arms fully extended at the bottom and the chin above the bar at the top.

The physical test is qualifying, not competitive. The candidate either passes or fails. The pass mark is fixed for all candidates in a given recruitment cycle. The standard is the same across Punjab, Sindh, and other federal paramilitary forces for the Sepoy rank.

The seven-step application process

The application is online only. There is no paper form and no in-person submission. The current flow on the official Pakistan Rangers Punjab website takes about 15 minutes if your documents are already scanned.

1. Visit the official website at www.pakistanrangerspunjab.com and click on the “Online Registration” or “Join Rangers” link on the homepage.
2. Create an account with your CNIC, mobile number, email, and a password. The system sends a one-time PIN to the mobile number for verification. The same mobile number cannot be used for two registrations.
3. Fill the application form with personal, family, and education details. The information must match the CNIC and the Matric certificate exactly.
4. Upload the required documents — CNIC (front and back), Matric certificate, one passport-size photograph, and the domicile certificate. The standard file size limit is 200 KB per document.
5. Select the recruitment centre. The Punjab wing has recruitment centres in Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, and Sargodha. The selection is final and cannot be changed after submission.
6. Submit the form and download the registration slip. The slip has the roll number, the test centre, and the date of the written test. The slip is also emailed to the candidate.
7. Appear in the written test on the date and centre mentioned on the slip. Bring the original CNIC and a print of the registration slip on the test day.

The selection process after the form

Submitting the form is the easy part. The selection process is structured in four stages and runs over three to four months from the closing date.

1. Written test. The MCQ-based test is the first stage and covers English, GK, Pakistan Studies, Islamiat, and basic mathematics. The pass mark is 50%. The test is held at the recruitment centre the candidate selected at registration.
2. Physical test. The physical test is the second stage and is held within two to four weeks of the written test result. The candidate must pass all six physical events — height, chest, weight, run, push-ups, sit-ups, chin-ups — to clear this stage.
3. Medical exam. The medical exam is the third stage and is held at a designated military hospital. The candidate is checked for eyesight, hearing, dental, cardiovascular fitness, and any disqualifying conditions. The medical standard is the same as for the Pakistan Army’s Sepoy rank.
4. Interview and final merit. The interview is the final stage. The candidate appears before a selection board of three officers, who assess the candidate’s motivation, communication, and general suitability. The final merit is the combined score of the written test, the interview, and the medical fitness.

The total timeline from the closing date to the final merit list is typically four to six months. The training at the Rangers Training College in Mandi Bahauddin is 6 months for Sepoys. After basic training, the Sepoy is posted to one of the wings along the Punjab border or in the provincial capital.

Common mistakes to avoid

There are five mistakes that account for the majority of rejected applications in the Punjab Rangers cycle. They are easy to avoid, and avoiding them materially improves your chances at the document-check stage:

1. CNIC information mismatch. The most common error. The name, father’s name, and date of birth on the form must match the CNIC and the Matric certificate exactly. A small spelling difference is enough to reject the application.
2. Photograph not meeting the spec. The Pakistan Rangers photo is similar to the FPSC photo — plain background, head covering only for religious reasons, no sunglasses, no group photos. The portal has a built-in tool to check the spec; do not skip the check.
3. Information as final. Once the form is submitted, the candidate can edit it only once, and the second submit is treated as final. Most mistakes caught after the first submit are not caught before the second submit because the candidate is in a hurry.
4. Wrong recruitment centre. Once the centre is selected at registration, it cannot be changed. Candidates who select a centre far from their home often miss the test because of travel and accommodation issues. Select the centre closest to your home.
5. Mobile number used twice. The portal does not allow two registrations on the same mobile number. If a relative has already used your number for their registration, you cannot use the same number. Use a number that is unique to you.

What to do before 26 August

The deadline is 26 August 2026. If you are reading this on 25 August, you have less than 24 hours. The most useful thing to do in that window is to:

1. Check your CNIC and Matric certificate match. Spelling, father’s name, date of birth. If they do not match, get them corrected before you apply — the document correction process can take days.
2. Run the physical events today. The 1.6 km run, 20 push-ups, 20 sit-ups, and 5 chin-ups in 1 minute. If you cannot pass the events, the written test and the application are wasted.
3. Scan the documents now. CNIC, Matric certificate, domicile, photograph. Have them ready in the right file size before the registration window closes.
4. Submit the form tonight. The portal will be slow in the last 12 hours. Submit before midnight if you can.
