FPSC Just Posted Its Largest Job Advertisement of 2026. The Deadline Is 31 August and the Online Form Is Already Open
23 August 2026

The Federal Public Service Commission has published Consolidated Advertisement No. 3 of 2026 with vacancies across teaching, nursing, police, engineering, and the Federal Investigation Agency, among other federal departments. The online application window opened immediately on publication and closes on 31 August 2026. The MCQ-based screening test is tentatively scheduled from 10 October 2026. Here is what is on offer, who is eligible, and the seven-step process to apply before the deadline.
What FPSC has put on the table
The Consolidated Advertisement is the largest single hiring notice that the Federal Public Service Commission publishes each year. It bundles vacancies from multiple ministries and federal departments into one notice so that candidates can apply to more than one post in a single round. Phase 3 of 2026 follows the two earlier rounds in March and June and is the final round of the year.
The posts on offer span the typical federal-government hiring range. The departments advertising include the Federal Directorate of Education, the Federal Government Polyclinic, the Pakistan Nursing Council, the Ministry of Interior (which covers the police and FIA cadres), the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Water Resources, and several attached departments. Posts are at BS-16 and BS-17 in most cases, with a few at BS-18 for senior technical roles.
Who is eligible
Eligibility varies by post, but there are three rules that apply across the entire advertisement:
- Pakistani citizen. The post is open to Pakistani citizens, including residents of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Dual nationality is allowed for civilian posts but disqualifies candidates from uniformed services.
- Age and qualification per post. Each post has a specific age limit and a specific qualification. The age is calculated from the closing date, 31 August 2026. The qualification ranges from Matric plus a relevant diploma (for some technical posts) to a Master’s degree (for general BS-17 roles). The exact requirements are on the case-number page for each post.
- Departmental Permission Certificate (DPC) for government employees. If you are already in government service, you need a DPC reference number from your current department before you can submit the form. Government employees without a DPC are not accepted.
There is no separate quota for women in the consolidated advertisement — the merit and provincial quota rules are unchanged from earlier rounds. Disabled candidates with a valid CNIC disability mark are eligible for the reserved seats under the federal quota.
The seven-step application process
FPSC has streamlined the application process in the last two years. The current flow takes about 20 minutes if your documents are already scanned.
- Visit the official FPSC website at
www.fpsc.gov.pk. - Create or log in to your account. New candidates register with a CNIC, mobile number, and email. The system sends a one-time PIN to the mobile number for verification.
- Locate Consolidated Advertisement No. 3/2026 under the “Apply Online” tab. Each post has a separate case number.
- Select the relevant post(s). You can apply to more than one post in the same round, but each requires a separate fee and a separate form. Read the case-number page for each post carefully before deciding.
- Fill the form with personal, academic, and contact details. Information submitted is treated as final; corrections after submission are limited.
- Generate the PSID (Payment Slip ID) and pay the application fee at any of the designated banks or via mobile wallet. The fee is Rs 300 for BS-16 and Rs 750 for BS-17 and above. Government employees pay the higher fee regardless of grade.
- Submit before 31 August 2026. Late applications are not accepted, and the system usually closes the submission window a few hours before midnight on the last day to manage load.
The documents you need ready
Most applications are rejected not because the candidate is ineligible, but because a required document is missing or scanned poorly. The standard list for the application portal is short, but each item has to be in the right format and under the right file size:
- CNIC (front and back, scanned, both sides in a single file or two files depending on the slot).
- Matric and Intermediate certificates, scanned, both sides.
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degree transcripts and degrees, scanned. If the degree is from a foreign university, an HEC equivalence certificate is required.
- Departmental Permission Certificate (DPC) reference number, if you are a government employee.
- Disability certificate (for candidates applying under the disability quota).
- Domicile certificate, scanned.
- One passport-size photograph, scanned, plain background, file size under 200 KB.
Most rejections at the document-check stage are for photographs that are too large or have the wrong background. The portal has a strict spec on the photograph — plain white or off-white background, head covering only for religious reasons, no sunglasses, no group photos.
What the screening test will look like
The MCQ-based screening test is the first stage of the FPSC selection process for BS-16 and BS-17 posts. The test format is unchanged from earlier rounds. The questions are split across four sections — English, GK (general knowledge), Pakistan Studies, and the subject relevant to the post you have applied for. The English and GK sections are common across all posts; the subject section is specific to the case number.
The test is one paper of 100 MCQs to be attempted in 100 minutes. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The pass mark varies by post and is published with the admit card. The screening test is qualifying, not competitive — your score on the screening test does not count toward the final merit. It is a gate to the descriptive test and interview, which are competitive.
The descriptive test is held separately, typically 4-6 weeks after the MCQ result. The viva voce (interview) follows the descriptive test, typically 8-12 weeks after that. The total timeline from the closing date of applications to the final merit list is usually 6-9 months.
Common mistakes to avoid
There are five mistakes that account for the majority of rejected applications. They are easy to avoid, and avoiding them materially improves your chances at the document-check stage:
- Wrong case number. The most common error. Each post has a separate case number, and the application fee varies by case number. Submitting the fee for one case and applying to another is the most frequent reason for rejection.
- Photograph not meeting the spec. The FPSC photo is not the same as a passport photo. The spec is on the portal, and the tool that compresses it also checks the spec. Do not skip the compression step.
- Information as final. Once you submit, you can edit the form only once. The second submit is treated as final. Most mistakes caught after the first submit are not caught before the second submit because the candidate is in a hurry.
- Government employees without DPC. The portal does not block the form if the DPC is missing. It only blocks the form if the DPC reference number does not match the issuing department’s record. So a typo on the DPC number is enough to reject the application.
- Wrong domicile on the form. The domicile on the form must match the domicile on the certificate you upload. If the form says Punjab and the certificate says Sindh, the application is rejected at the document stage.
What to do before 31 August
The most useful thing a candidate can do between now and the deadline is to make a list of the posts they are eligible for, pay the application fee for each one, and submit each form carefully. The deadline is 8 days away. The portal will be slow in the last 48 hours. Submit before 28 August if you can.
For someone who is not yet registered on the portal, the registration itself takes 10 minutes, and a one-time PIN has to come through the mobile network. Registering on 30 August is risky because the PIN can take a few hours. Register today.
The bottom line
Consolidated Advertisement No. 3/2026 is the last FPSC round of the year. The application window closes on 31 August 2026, and the MCQ test is tentatively scheduled for 10 October 2026. If you are eligible for any of the posts on offer, the seven-step application process is the same as in earlier rounds, and the most common rejection reasons are avoidable. Read the case-number page for your chosen post, prepare your documents in the right format, pay the application fee, and submit before the deadline.
