Punjab to Start Universal number plates and e-Auctuon Application

The Punjab government  and Punjab Information Technology board (PITB) has announced that it will introduce universal number plates throughout the province. According to a statement, the Punjab Excise Drug and Drug Enforcement Administration has decided to issue license plates with the same serial numbers.

Vehicles in all Punjab cities will be registered under a serial number from August 17, 2020, the government said.

The tax authorities added that the LEA, RN, BW and MA series license plates will be discontinued as there will be only one Punjab license plate in the province.

PITB launches E-auction app for universal license plates

In addition, the government has launched the universal app-e-auction number plate. Consumers can participate in the online auction via this app.

According to the government, the AAA series will be introduced for cars and bicycles, while the CAA series will be introduced for commercial vehicles. Registration for the attractive numbers auction starts on August 30, 2020.

Starting price auction, series of universal number plates:
Registration numbers for cars range from 1-999, 1001-9990 for motorcycles, and 1-9999 for commercial vehicles.

The e-auction for passenger car registration starts at Rs 5,000 for private motorcycles from Rs 500, while that for commercial vehicles is set at Rs 1,000.

Process for participating in the e-auction:
According to a government announcement, consumers can participate in an online auction as follows:

Download the auction app or visit the point department website
Enter your online registration within three days of downloading the app
Choose your favorite song
Participate in the e-auction
Consumers must attend the auction within three days of registration
Overseas Pakistanis can also participate in this auction, the government said.

The department will hold the first e-auction on August 30, 2020.

In the past, the Punjab government had successfully resolved the crisis with smart license plate cards in the province. According to media reports, the government will prepare 7 cards sent by Lac by September 2020.

The reports also noted that a new excise facility is being built in DG for this purpose. The raw material for the maps also came to Lahore from the United States, according to reports.
