PM Imran Khan is 9th most followed leader in world on Twitter:Reports

Prime Minister Imran Khan has emerged as the ninth largest world market leader on the microblogging site Twitter, and saw a 22 percent increase in his followers, according to official figures.

The study by Burson Cohn & Wolfe (BCW) - a PR and communications company in 2020 - focused on tweets from world market leaders during the coronavirus pandemic, overseeing their reach and the overall flow of accurate information.

The report found that leaders of 163 countries and 132 foreign ministers have personal accounts on Twitter. "As of June 1, 2020, all 1,089 personal and institutional world leader Facebook pages totaled more than 620 million followers and had sent 8.7 million tweets since they were created," it says.

President Donald Trump has been voted the most visited world leader with over 81 million supporters.Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi came in second place to Pope Francis, who has 51 million supporters in his nine different language reports.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was in seventh place with 16.1 million supporters and grew by 17%.Erdogan finished fifth in this category with an average of 4,879 retweets.

In terms of efficiency, the US President once again took the lead, but Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz took second place with an average of 23,573 retweets

PM Imran managed to secure fourth place in terms of reach. Actual reach is estimated at 7.5 million people, or 64% of the 12.1 million followers.

Trump was in second place with 20.3 million people or 25% of his 83.8 million followers, while Erdogan was in eighth place with 5.2 million people or 33% of his 16.4 million followers.

According to the report, the governments and heads of state of 189 countries were officially represented on the social network, representing 98 percent of the 193 UN member states.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is the second most prosecuted Foreign Minister after growing 29 percent on his Twitter account with 3.1 million followers.

Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan from the United Arab Emirates topped the list with 4.6 million followers, while US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Javad Zarif from Iran also came on the list with 1.9 and 1.5 million supporters respectively.
