The e-portal would assist in the integration of think tanks across the country and contribute constructively to government decisions and political decision-making processes.
Dr. Moeed W. Yusuf, special assistant to the Prime Minister of National Security, has also revived the National Security Committee (NSC) advisory board. He chaired the board meeting of the Prime Minister's Office today.
The National Security Committee (NSC) is the central decision-making body for national security issues.
The Advisory Committee is a sub-body of the National Security Committees, composed of leading think tanks that make recommendations for the review of the NSC. The board has not met since 2018.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Institute for Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), the Institute for Regional Studies (IRS), the Institute for Strategic Studies, Research and Analysis (ISSRA) of NDU, the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI), the Center for Aerospace & Security Studies (CASS) and senior officials from the National Security Department.
At the meeting, Moeed Yousaf said the web portal will build a bridge between science and government, which has not happened in the past, and help the government develop better strategies.
“The portal is the first of its kind in the region and tells of the government's commitment to inclusive policy,” he said.
Yusuf responded to the in-depth exchange of views on the important role that various think tanks in the country play in examining the challenges and opportunities facing Pakistan.
Participants noted that there are more than 100 think tanks operating in Pakistan, but not enough has been done to channel their contributions. SAPM confirmed the National Security Department's request to correct this.
Dr. Continuing the Prime Minister's vision, Moeed Yusuf said the Prime Minister has a people-centered and poverty-focused approach to national security.
