Petrol prices have fluctuated significantly over the years. Historically, these changes have been influenced by various factors, including international crude oil prices, domestic policies, and geopolitical events. The recent hike is notable as it comes shortly after the announcement of the federal budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, which was presented on June 12.

Global oil prices are a primary driver of domestic petrol prices. Factors such as supply and demand dynamics, geopolitical tensions, and production levels from major oil-producing countries play a crucial role. Recently, international market trends have shown an upward trajectory, contributing to the hike in local petrol prices.
