Pakistan Observes Youm-e-Ashura to remember the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain

Youm-e-Ashura is observed throughout the country with due solemnity and sanctity to remember of sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions with strict security measures to avoid unpleasant incidents.

Muharram is the month of mourning for Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), in the seventh century.

Processions are taking place across the country, while mobile phone services have been partially suspended in Karachi and other major cities to ensure unfailing security, as the country has previously witnessed a series of attacks on imambargahs and processions.

In his message in memory of Ashura, President Dr. Arif Alvi, the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) is truly a victory for the truth, a symbol of steadfastness against oppression and a wonderful example of sacrifice. "It is a lesson that one should not avoid sacrificing one's life while fighting the evil forces," he said.

Prime Minister Imran said the historic Karbala battle between truth and untruth has made it clear that real success and persistence is the passion to sacrifice everything for the revival and promotion of Islamic values.

Prime Minister Imran reminded the people of the struggle of Kashmir and said that they [Kashmiris] kept the teachings of Imam Hussain (RA) alive and that Karbala made Kashmir an example of the struggle between truth and untruth.

The Prime Minister listed three lessons from Imam Hussain (RA) and his supporters in Karbala. "Immortality is achieved by those who make the ultimate sacrifice in their lives to combat tyranny and injustice.

It is not earned simply by being rich, powerful, or educated," he wrote. "Throughout history, many great Muslims have been inspired by Karbala and sacrificed their lives to defend themselves against oppression, colonial rule and injustice."

And third, "Today the fight against the oppression of the occupation and injustice in the IIOJK continues."

Both the Prime Minister and the President urged citizens to adhere to the Covid-19 SOPs applicable to Muharram rituals.

Karachi Processions

The 10th Muharram-ul-Haram processions are held on Sundays from different parts of Karachi, while the main procession is picked up from Nishtar Park Karachi.

The main procession after crossing the traditional route ends in Imambargah-e-Iranian Hussaini in Maghrib.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also attended the procession and supervised the security arrangements.

On the way after the procession, strict security measures were taken to avoid uncomfortable situations.

Hyderabad Processions

In Hyderabad, 78 majales are held all over the city, while 35 small and large processions are held from different parts of the city.

The central procession is removed from Qadam Gah Moula Ali (RA) and culminates in the evening at Karbala Dadan Shah after passing several routes. Processions

In Lahore, the main procession of Shabih-e-Zuljinah on the 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram, which was removed by Nisar Haveli at the Mochi gate to the Old City Wall, will take place on its traditional route and culminate in Karbala Gaamay Shah tonight, where Sham-e-Ghareeban takes place.

Peshawar Processions

In Peshawar, the main processions of Alam, Tazia and Zul Jinnah are removed from the Imam Bargah Agha Syed Ali Shah Qissa Khawani Bazaar.

Fourteen further processions will be occupied by various Imambargahs who will participate in the main procession.

The procession ends at the starting point in the evening after crossing the traditional routes.

Similar processions from Tazia, Alam and Zuljinah are also held in Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Kurram and Dera Ismail Kh districts
