Agha Khan University launched “CoronaCheck”Self Screening App for Coronavirus

The Agha Khan University Hospital has launched the CoronaCheck Mobile application for the self screening to check the presence of COVID-19.

After the outbreak of the Coronavirus in Pakistan it is most challenging task for the administration to control the pandemic.

The only one of the best solution to screen the patient's is the' Coronavirus (COVID-19) screening test , as the this specific test required a special test kits which indicate the presence of virus inside the body.

The arrangement of the test kits is likely more challenging because all these testing kits are imported from the foreign, in this regime government of Pakistan ordered multiple quantities of kits from China and Japan.

The testing of Coronavirus is more important to combat the virus spread, one of the dark side of these kits, it provides the results after the 8 hours of the incubation period, a recent outbreak reported in the United State a biomedical company Abbot launched a testing device which provides the result in less than 5minutes.

As per the official account of the spoke person of the Prime minister Imran Khan, Dr Zafar Mirza, approx 6500 test are conducted daily and the government urges to take them more than 20,000 tests per day.

As the number of tests increased, a significant rise has been in the Coronavirus patient across the country, Pakistan tally of the more than 4200 active patient's with 60 sad demises.

The most confusing action for the people's is either they should go for the test or not, as the symptoms of the Corona patient and common flue are the same.

In this regard, the Agha Khan Khan university hospital has recently launched a mobile application, for the self-screening test.

The most charming feature of this mobile application, it provides the information based on the symptoms either you should go for the Coronavirus test or not.

The application is based on the artificial intelligence system, which provides a chatbot for the users to understand their symptoms and timely indications for the Coronavirus virus test and medical attention.

This application also allows the user to identify the potential carrier of the virus and how to limit the risk of transmission and a detail list of information for the National helplines numbers.

The usage of this application will reduce the burden on the healthcare facilities and the hospital, this application is designed by the Agha Khan University Hospital and the TISC,AKU has provided the clinical support for screening algorithm and the TISC has provided the Technical support.

Saleem Sayani, director of AKU’s TISC said, The coronavirus has positioned the country’s health care system under the huge burden with frontline healthcare specialists they are working around the clock with the help of this app, we hope to share helpful advice that can avoid new cases and provide relief to afraid citizens during a time of broad spread concern.

The CoronaCheck application has been approved from the Alberta Health Services and diversified to fulfil the local context and the developing epidemiology of the disease.

CoronaCheck also attempts to tackles myths and misconceptions by featuring academic videos in Urdu, to battle the boosting amount of unverified data publishing on social media platforms. It also includes factual information on best exercises to protect oneself from disease, advice on self-assessment, and protection and recommendation on physical distancing recommended by World Health Organization and national health ministries
