Who can apply: Pakistani women with a strong undergraduate STEM degree. Priority given to applicants who demonstrate a plan to return and apply their skills in Pakistan after completing their studies.

The University of Leeds has announced International Masters Regional Scholarships offering a £6,000 tuition fee reduction for international students from South Asia, including Pakistan. This is not a full scholarship but represents a meaningful reduction in a Masters programme that typically costs £18,000–£25,000 per year at Leeds.

Leeds ranks consistently in the UK’s top 15 universities and is particularly strong in engineering, business, law, and social sciences. The regional scholarship is merit-based and automatically considered when you apply for admission — no separate scholarship application is required.

Who can apply: Any international student from Pakistan applying for a Masters programme at the University of Leeds. Automatic consideration on admission — just apply for your programme.

What to prepare: Standard Masters application (academic transcripts, personal statement, references). The £6,000 reduction is awarded at the offer stage if you meet the merit threshold.

The Government of Japan awarded 11 Pakistani students the prestigious MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) research scholarship for the most recent intake. MEXT is one of the most comprehensive government scholarship programmes in the world — it covers tuition, monthly stipend (approximately ¥143,000 per month for research students), accommodation allowance, and return airfare.

Applications for the 2026-27 intake are processed through the Japanese Embassy in Islamabad. The programme has two main tracks: the Embassy Recommendation route (open to all Pakistani applicants, deadline typically April–May annually) and the University Recommendation route (requires you to already be in contact with a Japanese professor willing to supervise you).

Who can apply: Pakistani nationals under 35 years of age (for research scholarships) with a strong academic background. STEM, social sciences, humanities and arts are all eligible.

The Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in Dhaka — an OIC-affiliated institution — has announced scholarships for Pakistani students across multiple degree programmes. IUT is a respected engineering and technology university operating under the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and tuition costs are significantly below UK or Western alternatives.

Pakistani students benefit from the OIC scholarship framework which covers a significant portion of tuition. The university offers programmes in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and industrial and production engineering.

Who can apply: Pakistani students with FSc Pre-Engineering (or equivalent) with strong marks in physics and mathematics. Also open for postgraduate applicants.

What to prepare: FSc/A-Level transcripts and certificates, CNIC, recommendation letter from your school, English proficiency evidence, and a completed IUT application form (available at iutoic-dhaka.edu).

For students already enrolled in Pakistani public universities, the Higher Education Commission’s Need-Based Scholarship programme remains one of the most accessible forms of financial support. HEC announced expanded allocations for FY2025-26, with particular focus on students from lower-income households in underserved districts.

Unlike merit-only scholarships, this programme weighs financial need alongside academic standing. Students in any discipline at any HEC-recognised public university can apply. Monthly stipends typically range from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000 depending on the university tier and district category.

Who can apply: Pakistani students enrolled at HEC-recognised public universities with a family income below the declared threshold. CGPA 2.5+ typically required. Applications submitted through your university’s financial aid office.

What to prepare: Income certificate from a grade-17 government officer or tehsildar, CNIC or B-Form, university enrollment certificate, transcript, and completed HEC financial aid form available at hec.gov.pk.
