The Agency for Technical and Vocational Training (TEVTA) was established in 1999 by Decree bringing together training institutions from seven different departments of the Government of Punjab.

Pakistan, which has a strong presence in all regions and districts of Punjab, offers technical and professional training in various economic sectors. Millions of students in Punjab have been taught skills over the decades. However, the focus was more on quantity and less on quality with a visible separation from the industry.

Following visions of the Pakistani Prime Minister, the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab and led by the Punjab Minister of Industry, we launched a strategy to restructure and reorganize the existing vocational training system in Punjab to the level of international standards.

We believe that the new reforms and interventions under TEVTA Vision 2023 will not only improve students' quality standards, but also enable them to secure financial opportunities at the local and international level through our new skills ecosystem.

The new TEVTA management has spent the first 100 days working with its relevant staff including NAVTTC, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the EU-German Vocational Training Sector Support Program (TVET SSP) to identify the critical gaps in its existing VET system and launched several interventions in just 100 days to bring a paradigm shift from its conventional system to a modern competence ecosystem.
