Standard Number plates issuance started by the Punjab excise and taxation department for newly registered vehicles in Punjab.

Punjab's Excise, Taxation and Drug Control Minister Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmed said Monday that the Excise Department will start issuing standardized number plates this month.

In a statement, the provincial minister said the department will start on trial with issuing license plates from next week and rightly begin serving civilians from the last week of the current month.

He instructed citizens to register on the ministry's website to book license plates and said it would be delivered on a first-come, first-served basis.

He said citizens would be notified of the date, time and place via text message so that the license plates could be picked up when they were ready.

He said that due to the incompetence of the previous government, people were delayed in providing number plates, but the incumbent government made it possible to keep number plates available to citizens day and night.

Mention that the excise department used modern technology to assist citizens and that people from home were also eligible for the excise facility, adding that providing universal license plates is a prominent project of the government and that the government will continue to provide their services to the people.

Punjab information technology board (PITB) has recently developed appointment management system for Punjab Excise and taxation department, with this application users can book their appointments with the department.
