Punjab to Give Special Grants to Minorities on Religious Festivals

-

This initiative follows the Ramzan Nigehban Program, which provides financial assistance to Muslim citizens during Ramadan.

The Punjab Chief Minister has reiterated the importance of minority rights, emphasizing that all citizens, regardless of faith, are integral to society.

The initiative aims to strengthen interfaith harmony and foster a more inclusive environment in the province.

According to Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Arora, the government will provide Rs 15,000 in grants to eligible Christian, Sikh, and Hindu families on their respective religious festivals.

Upcoming Religious Festivals and Grant Details

Several major religious festivals are taking place in March and April:

  • Holi (Hindu community): March 13-14
  • Khalsa Janam Din & Vaisakhi (Sikh community): April 14
  • Easter (Christian community): April 20

The grants aim to support non-Muslim residents of Punjab, ensuring they can observe their religious traditions without financial burden.

The Chief Minister of Punjab has emphasized the inclusivity and equal treatment of all communities in the province. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to religious harmony and social welfare.

Under the Ramzan Nigehban Program, 3 million citizens in Punjab are receiving Rs 10,000 as financial assistance.

Ramzan Nigehban Program vs. Minority Festival Grants

Now, with this new policy, minority communities will also benefit from government aid during their sacred celebrations.

Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Arora confirmed that eligible Christian, Sikh, and Hindu families will receive Rs 15,000 in financial aid. This support aims to ease the financial burden on low-income families during their religious celebrations.

  • Holi (Hindu community): March 13-14
  • Khalsa Janam Din & Vaisakhi (Sikh community): April 14
  • Easter (Christian community): April 20

While 3 million Muslims in Punjab are receiving Rs 10,000 under the Ramzan Nigehban Program, this new policy extends financial relief to non-Muslim communities, reinforcing the government's dedication to equal support and religious freedom.

This financial aid ensures that people from different faiths can celebrate their religious occasions without economic hardships.

By acknowledging and supporting minority festivals, the Punjab government is sending a strong message of unity, respect, and equality.
