PIA operations allowed under Pakistan Essential Services Act 1952

The government put the Pakistan Essential Services (Maintenance) Act of 1952 on PIACL, which allows Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL) to rescue, evacuate and repatriate Pakistanis and foreigners stranded in several countries.

The spokesman said in a press release that PIACL's services were placed under the Essential Services Act of 1952 with immediate effect and for a limited period of time to ensure an uninterrupted and ongoing operation of rescue, evacuation and repatriation for six months.

He said the PIA director received complaints from thousands of people in different countries who were waiting to return to their home country.
