PIA Employees Cooperative Housing Society

The PIA Employees Cooperative Housing Society (PIA ECHS), established under the Cooperative Societies Act of 1925, holds a significant position in Lahore's urban development landscape. Registered by the Registrar Cooperative Societies Punjab under registration certificate No.

942 on 8th September 1979, the society was envisioned to provide quality housing to its members.

Spanning across a total area of 1791 kanals and 09 marlas for Phase-I and 380 kanals and 05 marlas for Phase-II, the society is strategically located in the Niaz Baig Ad Satto Katla Revenue estate.

Approval and Layout of Phases

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) granted approval for both phases through official correspondence (CMP/53S/LDA/135 for Phase-I and CMP/105-S/LDA/137 for Phase-II) on 10th October 1982.

The society is meticulously divided into Nine Blocks, with seven blocks in Phase-I (A, B, C, D, E, F, and G) and two blocks in Phase-II (A1 and B1).

Situated in proximity to prominent residential and commercial hubs such as Township, WAPDA Town, Revenue Society, Punjab Government Society, Iqbal Avenue, and Johar Town, the society boasts an exceptional location.

The central positioning has attracted significant commercial activity, enhancing its value as a prime real estate destination.

Challenges and Ongoing Efforts

Despite its extensive infrastructure, the PIA ECHS faces several challenges:

  1. Shortage of Funds:
    Financial constraints have delayed improvements in areas such as electricity systems, underground sewerage, road repairs, and replacement of old water and sewer pipes.
  2. Maintenance:
    Regular maintenance of parks, streetlights, and the community center requires additional funding.
  3. Hospital Development:
    The society aims to initiate work on the hospital to enhance healthcare access.
  4. Mortgage Plot Releases:
    Efforts are ongoing to release mortgage plots held by LDA, facilitating allottees in constructing homes.
  5. Unauthorized Subdivisions:
    A few plots have been illegally subdivided without the required approvals. Measures are being taken to regularize such issues.
