Kashif Bhatti Cleared by ECB after COVID-19 positive

Pakistani left-handed Kashif Bhatti, who is part of the England tournament team, has been released for the Men in Green following a new negative Covid-19 test since his arrival.

The spinner on the left arm had initially tested positive for a new type of coronavirus after arriving in England and was in self-isolation.

A spokesman for the English and Welsh Cricket Board (ECB) said, "A Pakistani player was released to return to the squad after a precautionary phase of self-isolation. The player had returned a positive test result for the remains of a previous Covid-19 infection. In consultation with Public Health England and a virologist, a safety method has been chosen to isolate the player.

"The player has now returned a negative test again with no risk of infection to other players and staff," he added.

Rookie Batman Haider Ali, Pacer Imran Khan and spinner Bhatti traveled to England on July 8 after testing negative on Covid-19 twice.

The trio had two positive results in the first test phase of the circuit board, so they were not sent with the front group that left for England on June 28.

The first test of the series will take place on Wednesday, August 5 in Old Trafford. The last two trials will be held at the Rose Bowl on Thursday, August 13 and Friday, August 21.The three T20Is will take place on Friday, August 28, August 30, and the final game of the tournament on Tuesday, September in Old Trafford
