American basketball player Stephen Jackson accepts Islam

-

American professional basketball player Stephen Jackson, 42, recently converted to Islam. The NBA star, who retired from professional basketball in 2015 and has been a commentator for ESPN ever since, announced his conversion in a post on his Instagram account.

In it, Jackson also thanked Tone Trump, an American rapper, for his support and a woman from Canada who gave him a prayer rug. Jackson was a legend on and off the field, leading the Golden State Warriors’ “We Believe” in late 2007.

He recently started one of the NBA’s most successful podcasts called “All the Smoke.” In an interview with the online magazine Muslim Matters, Jackson reported on his journey to Islam.

I don’t know everything I do, but I know that Allah is guiding me, so I am happy with this Alhamdulillah,” said the NBA champion and activist when asked about his path to Islam. In another interview, the former NBA star said he had studied Islam for several months but had been exposed to it for years.

Jackson also talks about racial injustice in the United States and has taken action since the brutal murder of his good friend George Floyd, who was strangled by police in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
