Usman Bin Younos, a young engineer from Lahore appointed as regional leader of ASME

Usman Bin Younos, a young mechanical engineer from Lahore, has been appointed as regional leader from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Usman is the youngest to ever serve in that role and the only South Asian to ever lead in that role.

The region covers 27 countries namely Australia, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, India, Pakistan, South Korea, Russia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brunei, Fiji, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Maldives, Nepal, New Guinea, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and Georgia.

Based in Lahore, Usman holds a degree from Lahore University of Engineering & Technology (UET Lahore). He comes from a technical family where all his siblings are mechanical engineers and his father a mining technician.

Usman has been involved with ASME for over 15 years and has contributed significantly to the growth and expansion of the business in recent years with a very diverse collection of experiences.

Usman is an entrepreneur, photographer, world traveler, animal lover and loves designing and flying model airplanes. With more than 100,000 members and a presence in 140 countries, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers is one of the largest engineering companies in the world and the largest machine building community in the world.

Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME is a professional non-profit organization that enables collaboration, exchange of expertise and competence development in all engineering disciplines, while at the same time promoting the important role the engineer plays in society.

ASME codes and standards, magazines, seminars and training programs are the foundation for promoting technology information and creating a safer environment.

The International Society of Interdisciplinary Engineers (ISIE) LLC, a new corporate venture project subsidiary, was recently established by ASME to introduce new and creative products, services and technologies to the engineering community.

According to Usman, there is a great responsibility to run most of society, which is very different in every way. The legacy of Thomas Edison, George Westinghouse, Henry Ford, and the like, who were all members of ASME, is no easy task.

There is enormous potential and great opportunity in our country to serve the tech community. In this role, his vision is to move the region's technical and scientific community to empower humanity through technology, entrepreneurship and innovation.

Engineers are extremely responsible for shaping the future of our planet, and engineers have been doing this for centuries. The world owes a lot to technology in all areas of life. With space travel, air travel, smartphones, connectivity, nanotechnology, robotics, medical devices and technological advancements have made it possible today, but efforts to solve humanity's challenges continue.
