Students in certain areas of Punjab will not adhere to the regular five-day attendance rule, Murad Raas, Punjab's education minister, said Friday.
A post on Twitter shared a list of districts that followed the alternative school day rule until April 1 due to the higher prevalence of coronavirus. Districts not on the list "follow the previous COVID-19 schedule," Raas wrote.

The attached notice states that districts with a higher COVID-19 positivity ratio, such as: More than 20 cases in the last 24 hours are subject to the alternate day rule.

The districts with such positivity are said to be Lahore, Gujrat, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Sialkot, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad.
According to the existing rule: "Students from all educational institutions must teach on changeover days at a ratio of 50% on each working day, as described in the previous letter dated September 12, 2020.
" The above has been amended to include the following: "Students from all educational institutions are allowed to take courses 5/6 days a week (depending on the circumstances), see 01-03-2021, except in the above districts."

According to the announcement, the change will be reviewed on March 31. The strict implementation of security measures must be ensured and everyone involved has already been informed, he added.
