Senior PML-N leader, Senator Mushahidullah Khan, has passed away after a long illness, party leader Muhammad Zubair confirmed early Thursday morning.

According to Senator Mushahidullah's family, his funeral prayers would take place later Thursday after the Zuhr prayers in Sector H-11 in Islamabad.

The senior chairman of PML-N was chairman of the Senate Standing Aviation Committee and a member of the chairman board and several other standing committees. He sat on the parliamentary committees that appointed the chief election commissioner and members of the Pakistani, Kashmiri and National Security Commissions.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi expressed grief at the senator's death. In a statement, he said that Mushahidullah was an accomplished politician and a good person. He also prayed for the deceased soul, Radio Pakistan reported.

Information Minister Shibli Faraz also expressed grief over the senator's death. "He was instrumental in promoting parliamentary and democratic values," he said.
