A detailed meeting on the construction of the Samsung assembly plant in Pakistan was held between Federal Minister of Industry and Protection Hammad Azhar and Samsung Pakistan CEO.
Samsung executives were grateful for both guidelines and are currently actively considering setting up a smartphone collection facility in Pakistan, Hammad said. This year, the Pakistani Economic Coordination Committee in principle approved the country's first policy for the production of mobile devices.
After an in-depth briefing on various aspects of the policy, the ECC advised the Ministry of Industry and Production to change its various incentives to promote localization, research and development leading mobile phone exports.
The Ministry of Industry and Manufacturing launched the Mobile Device Manufacturing Guideline in January 2019. It has appointed an Engineering Development Board to act as the secretariat for drawing up the guidelines by consulting stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
