The marriage halls in Sindh Province could be reopened before August 2, after the wedding hall association and the province held successful talks to media.
The head of the marriage association, Rana Raees, confirmed the development and said the government agreed to reopen the halls by August 2.
"The government has asked owners for recommendations for SOPs," he said, adding that extensive preventive measures will be developed after consultation. He said the wedding halls would fully comply with the government's SOPs.
It should be noted that the government of Punjab announced on Monday that it would reopen the province's wedding halls from the first week of September, as the inner association protested nationwide against the continued closure of companies during the corona virus pandemic.
According to information, the marriage union threatened to march to the Chief Minister House in Karachi on Monday if they were unable to resume business during the developed coronavirus SOPs.
Rana Raees, director of the Marriage Halls Association, spoke to protesters outside the Karachi Press Club that the wedding halls have remained closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"The government has allowed other companies to reopen during SOPs, but they are still reluctant to operate halls," he said.
He said they gave the government a demo to reopen wedding halls while following the SOPs.
"We went bankrupt in the midst of the pandemic because of the ongoing economic crisis," he said, urging the government to keep the halls functioning during the SOPs.
He also warned that if the ban continues, they can extend the scope of their protest and march to the CM house to approve their demands.
