Federal Minister of Industry and Production Hammad Azhar tweeted that the policy of four-wheel drive electric vehicles (EVs) is currently in use and that a proposal will be submitted to the cabinet shortly after the Ministries of Climate Change and Science and Technology have their consultation on the matter offered.
Previously we announced Electric Vehicle policy for 2-3 wheelers, buses and trucks. We are now working on EV policy for 4 wheelers and will be presenting policy proposals to cabinet in this regards after consultations with Ministries of Climate Change and Science & Tech.

He also announced on his Twitter statement that the Engineering Development Board is working with the Department of Industry to review current automotive policy. The tweet went on to say that both companies are looking for ways to do away with the practice of car manufacturers charging a premium for vehicle overbooking.
He said the government had previously announced the electric car (EV) policy for 2-3 wheels, buses and trucks and is now working on the EV policy for 4 wheels.
Hammad said EV policy proposals would be presented to the cabinet after consulting ministries on climate change and science and technology.
Fawad Chaudhry announced that the federal government will import 120 electric buses by the end of 2020 and that local production of the electric buses will start by 2021.
He also said this in one of the previous talks with the media, which he said at the last meeting that an electric transport value chain will be set up in Pakistan and that the battery bus service will be operational by the end of 2020.
A Chinese Skywell Automobile manufacturing company aims to invest in Pakistan for electric buses.
