Pakistan Navy wellcomes the 45 Countries for AMAN-21

The Pakistan Navy will host a multinational maritime exercise called “AMAN-21” in the Arabian Sea later this month, which is expected to involve 45 countries, the navy said in a statement.

Pakistan’s commander, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, briefed the media on the exercise on Monday. “AMAN exercise with the slogan ‘Together for peace’ is conducted regularly every two years by the Pakistani Navy to project a soft image of Pakistan,” said a navy press release.

The exercise contributes to peace and stability in the region, to the fight against terrorism in the maritime area, to cooperation in maintaining a safe and sustainable sea area and, above all, to improving interoperability between regional and supraregional fleets.

Ashraf said this year’s exercise is the seventh edition of the AMAN, which will involve approximately 45 countries “with ground and air cargo, special forces / naval forces and observers / senior officers.

The exercise consists of two main phases: harbor and ocean phase,” the press release said. “Port activities include seminars, discussions, demonstrations and international meetings. The naval phase includes tactical maneuvers related to piracy, counter-terrorism, shooting, and search and rescue.

The maritime phase and exercise AMAN-21 would be characterized by the international maritime declaration as testified by national and foreign dignitaries.

Admiral Naveed Ashraf said the AMAN would create a “common forum for the exchange of information, mutual understanding and identification of areas of common interest to all participating Marines in pursuit of the common goal of maintaining stability, peace and prosperity”.
