The Pakistani Navy added the Chinese frigate ship 054 to its navy on Sunday. The opening ceremony of the ship took place at the Chinese shipyard Hudong Zhonghua.
Commodore Azfar Humayun of the Pakistan Navy was the main guest.Commodore praised the yard's professional ability to complete the project on time despite Covid-19.

According to the Pakistani Navy spokesman, frigate ship 054 will contain all kinds of advanced technology, military equipment, weapons and sensors.

The spokesman added that adding the ship to the fleet will increase efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
In 2019, as part of a major bilateral arms deal, China began building the first of four "most advanced" wing frigates for Pakistan to maintain the "balance of power" in the Indian Ocean.
Cao Weidong, a senior researcher at the PLA's Naval Military Studies Research Institute, previously said that the Pakistani Navy would encourage its Chinese contractors to use Western radars or weapons on ships built by Chinese shipbuilding, because they believed Western ship technologies were better than Chinese.
"But it appears that all weapons and radars on the new ship will be Chinese products, reflecting our advancement in the industry and the confidence the Pakistan Navy has in our technology and capabilities," he said.
