NADRA Issues New Guideline for Obtaining ID Card and Document

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has recently announced a set of important instructions for all citizens seeking to apply for ID cards, B-Forms, registration certificates, and other official documents.

These updated guidelines are aimed at streamlining operations, reducing fraudulent activities, and ensuring that the documentation process remains transparent and efficient.

Bring Original Documents to NADRA Centres

NADRA has clearly emphasized that citizens must bring their original documents when visiting NADRA centers for any form of registration or document issuance. Photocopies are no longer considered necessary for processes involving B-Forms or registration certificates.

Previously, applicants often prepared extensive sets of photocopies alongside their original documents. However, under the new system, NADRA has streamlined procedures to only require original documents. This change applies to the issuance of:

  • Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs)
  • Child Registration Certificates (B-Forms)
  • Family Registration Certificates (FRCs)
  • Smart National Identity Cards (SNICs)

NADRA has issued a stern warning against the practice of using someone else’s ID card as a guarantee during any registration or application process. This action is deemed illegal and holds no legal standing under Pakistani law.

Applicants are advised to present only their own original documents and to avoid engaging in any practice that could jeopardize their application or lead to legal consequences. Using another individual’s credentials could result in the rejection of the application or potential legal prosecution.

Caution Against Sharing Personal Information and Biometrics

Citizens have also been strictly warned not to share their personal information or fingerprints with anyone, especially in exchange for financial incentives or rewards.

NADRA has noticed instances where malicious actors have offered money or other benefits to individuals in return for sensitive information. Sharing such information not only compromises personal security but can also lead to identity theft and other forms of fraud.

  • Never share your NADRA-issued PIN codes or fingerprints.
  • Always verify the identity of any individual claiming to represent NADRA.
  • Report suspicious activities to the nearest NADRA center immediately.

To ensure that citizens are fully aware of these new instructions, NADRA has ensured that comprehensive guidelines are prominently displayed at all its service centers across Pakistan.

Staff members at these centres have been trained to enforce these guidelines strictly, and applicants who fail to comply may experience delays in their application processing or even face rejection.

Streamlined Processing for Faster Service

By mandating the presentation of only original documents and eliminating the need for photocopies, NADRA aims to speed up the entire registration process.

  • Quicker verifications
  • Reduced waiting times
  • Improved customer service
  • Enhanced transparency and security

This shift aligns with NADRA’s broader vision of adopting technology-driven solutions for citizen services while minimizing bureaucratic inefficiencies.

To ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience at the NADRA centre, citizens should prepare the following:

  1. Original Computerized National Identity Card (if applicable)
  2. Original Child Registration Certificate (B-Form)
  3. Supporting documents (such as marriage certificates, birth certificates, or educational certificates if needed)
  4. Old CNIC or FRC (if applying for renewal or update)

Remember, photocopies are not necessary, unless specifically requested under exceptional circumstances.
