Government’s Efforts to Improve Passport Services
The decision to introduce passport services at NADRA centers follows a visit by Director General Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi, who emphasized the importance of enhancing public access. Officials also discussed plans to extend these services to 11 more NADRA mega centers across the country.
Previous Visits and Efficiency Measures
During an unannounced visit to Karachi’s 24/7 Passport Office at Awami Markaz and the NADRA Defence Mega Centre, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi noted that many applicants were satisfied with the smooth and efficient process. The government has also been proactive in addressing delays, ensuring timely passport issuance.
Clearance of Backlog and Production Success
In a related update, DG Mustafa Jamal Qazi shared impressive figures about the clearance of pending passport applications. Since July 1, over 3.3 million passports have been printed, covering normal, urgent, and fast-track categories. Citizens can now collect their passports from regional offices after receiving email and SMS notifications.
