Karachi Ensures Uninterrupted Power & Gas for Ramadan 2025

-

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hasan Naqvi has issued strict directives to K-Electric and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity and gas during Sehri and Iftar throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

With Ramadan being a sacred month for Muslims worldwide, it is imperative that essential utilities like electricity and gas remain available, especially during the pre-dawn (Sehri) and evening (Iftar) hours.

Recognizing the critical nature of this requirement, Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Rabia Syed penned an official letter to the Managing Director of Sui Gas and the Chief Executive Officer of K-Electric, urging them to prioritize the uninterrupted supply of utilities to Karachi residents.

SSGC Releases Ramadan Gas Supply Schedule

In response to these concerns, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a special gas supply schedule for Ramadan 2025 to ensure that citizens receive sufficient gas pressure during critical hours.

According to an official statement by SSGC, the company will implement a gas pressure profiling strategy to maintain stable supply. The schedule is as follows:

  • Sehri: 10:00 PM to 03:00 AM
  • Iftar: 09:00 AM to 03:30 PM

By implementing this schedule, SSGC aims to mitigate shortages and ensure smooth flow for cooking purposes.

K-Electric’s Commitment to Avoid Load Shedding

Historically, Karachi has faced frequent power outages due to increased demand during Ramadan, leading to immense frustration among residents.

K-Electric has stated that it is working towards maintaining an uninterrupted power supply during these critical times. The power utility has also taken the following steps:

  • Enhancing grid stability to prevent sudden power failures.
  • Deploying rapid response teams to address any faults immediately.
  • Ensuring power stations are operating at optimal capacity to meet increased demand.

Additionally, the company has urged citizens to use electricity wisely to avoid overloading the system.

Many Karachiites have urged authorities to ensure strict monitoring and hold utility providers accountable in case of non-compliance.
