Civil Aviation Authority classified three categories of restricted countries for travel

As hike in coronavirus cases in Pakistan third wave, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Saturday announced a new list of countries classified into A, B and C based on the occurrence of the South African and Brazilian virus strains and a complete ban on travel from 12 countries.

Travel restrictions and an entry ban for passengers from 12 countries classified as C will apply from March 23 to April 5.

The CAA said in a statement: “Filed by NCOC, there will be a total travel ban on incoming travel to Pakistan from Category C countries, including the revocation of exemptions previously granted to Pakistani passport holders.

NICOP holders and POC holders,the measure will be implemented in line with the measures taken to limit the spread of Covid-19 in Pakistan. "

The CAA has updated its category C for inbound travelers and moved the UK from category C to category B, an aviation division spokesperson said.

Irfan Sabir, CAA's Director of Aviation and Economic Rules, made a statement on the revised list of countries.

The announcement said travel restrictions on inbound travel to Pakistan from Category C countries, previously shipped on Jan 29, will remain in place until April 5.

The CAA said international travelers from Category A countries do not require a Covid-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test before entering Pakistan.

The communication states that all countries not listed in A and C fall into category B.

International travelers from countries not listed in Category A will need the Covid-19 test before traveling to Pakistan.

International travel to Pakistan from Category C countries is restricted and allowed only according to National Command and Operations Center guidelines.
