A Swat woman shot her boyfriend in the Swat district on Thursday after he turned down his marriage proposal.
Baricot police said the victim, identified as Hussain Ali, had been in a relationship with Neelum for a long time. The girl was supposed to marry Ali and had even turned down several marriage proposals from other men, police added. However, Neelum felt that Ali was cheating on her with another girl. Annoyed, she went to the victim’s house and shot him.

When reports of the murder spread, police came to the scene and took Ali’s body into custody, filing a case against the suspect. The body was later transferred to the family after completing medical and legal formalities. According to the police, the suspect fled after the murder.
They added that a police team had been formed to track them down. Murders for love affairs and honor have soared recently in the Swat Valley. Reportedly, about 12 women have been killed in relationships in the district this year.
