To purify air PM inaugurates Miyawaki method urban forestry

On Saturday, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced the development of 50 urban forests in Lahore using the Miyawaki method to restore biodiversity and address the climate crisis.

“I have introduced urban forest management in Japan using the Miyawaki technique, where trees grow ten times faster and thirty times denser, and this is the best way to tackle pollution,” the prime minister said on his Twitter account.

As the provincial capital is one of the most densely populated cities in Pakistan, the Prime Minister added, "50 locations have been chosen in Lahore." He went on to explain that Miyawaki's first experiment was conducted at Liberty Roundabout Lahore last year.

At the inauguration of the spring plantation in 2021 on Friday, Prime Minister Imran began the project at Jilani Park in Lahore.

Upon his arrival, the Prime Minister was informed of developments in the development of 51 urban forest areas in the provincial capital, which have been created to reduce air pollution and protect the environment.

Miyawaki is a technique developed by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki that helps build dense native forests. The method is to make sure that the plant growth is 10 times faster and the resulting plantation is 30 times denser than normal.

  • Step 2: division.

  • Step 4: Plant the tree Step 5: Place sticks. Step 6: Monitor the condition of plant.

With this technique the trees grows denser and faster.
