The School Education Department in Punjab has recently announced new Ramazan guidelines for teachers in government schools.
These updates focus on adjustments to working hours, holiday schedules, and academic activities, ensuring a smooth and efficient educational environment during the holy month.
As per the official directive, all government school teachers across Punjab will enjoy Saturdays as a full holiday throughout Ramazan.
The School Education Department’s new guidelines for teachers during Ramazan mark a significant step towards supporting educators while maintaining academic standards.
Revised School Timings for Ramazan
In addition to the Saturday holiday, the School Education Department has introduced modified school timings to ensure that both students and teachers can manage their daily routines effectively while observing fasts. The updated schedule is as follows:
- Single-shift schools will operate from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM on weekdays.
- Double-shift schools will have two separate time slots:
- Morning shift: 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM
- Evening shift: 12:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Recognizing the challenges that come with fasting, the education department has also directed schools to shorten lesson periods during Ramazan.
Instead of the regular duration, class periods will be slightly reduced to accommodate shorter school days. Furthermore, strict attendance policies will be relaxed, allowing for flexibility in case of health-related concerns due to fasting.
Relief Measures for Teachers in Remote Areas
Since travel distances can be exhausting, flexible arrival and departure times may be allowed for those commuting long distances.
Although these temporary adjustments aim to provide relief, the School Education Department has also devised a post-Ramazan catch-up plan to ensure that students do not face academic setbacks.
The Punjab government remains committed to ensuring a balanced and inclusive educational environment during Ramazan. These new policies reflect the government’s efforts to support teachers and students while maintaining academic progress.
