Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his condolences to the people of Beirut

-

Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his condolences to the people of Beirut on Wednesday after two massive explosions shocked the Lebanese capital the day before, killing at least 100 people and injuring over 4,000.

According to media reports, the shock waves were so strong that they flattened much of the city's harbor, destroyed buildings above the capital and sent a huge cloud of mold into the air.

"We stand in solidarity with our Lebanese brothers in their difficult hour and share their grief and sorrow," the Prime Minister tweeted. He also wished the injured to recover quickly.
The message comes after Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab has called "friendly countries" to support a country hit by the worst economic crisis in decades and the corona virus pandemic.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also expressed his grief over the loss of valuable lives in the incident, saying, "Pakistan's prayers and thoughts were with the Lebanese government and people during this difficult time."

Earlier today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided the contact details of the Pakistani Embassy in Beirut to needy citizens.
