PM Inaugurates E-bidding and E-invoicing at NHA

Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Wednesday that the e-bidding and e-invoicing system will lead the country towards modernity and digitization.

He spoke before the opening ceremony of the National Highway Authority (NHA) e-bid, e-invoicing and GIS mapping system, which aims to ensure transparency in the award of contracts. "E-bidding will reduce human interaction when awarding contracts to different projects and will eliminate corruption and bribery in the country," he said.

"We can never make progress if bribery and corruption continue in the country." The Prime Minister expressed his willingness to digitize the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) by July this year.

“We can increase tax collection by introducing automation and digitization into FBR,” he added. The Prime Minister said other ministries are also being encouraged to move to e-government to ensure the utmost transparency.

As for the blanket controversy, the prime minister said that if the ruler himself got involved in corrupt practices, the entire system of the country would become corrupt. Earlier, the Secretary of Communications and Postal, Murad Saeed, said the NHA had implemented an electronic bidding system that would make the bidding process transparent, efficient and simple.

The NHA is committed to conducting road construction based on public-private partnerships (PPPs)," he added. Separately, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday ordered the relevant authorities to take all possible measures to lower the prices of essential goods across the country.

Imran Khan chaired a meeting with Pakistani spokespersons from Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and immediately ordered measures to import sugar. The government has made a number of important decisions regarding sugar and power.

The meeting discussed several topics, including inflation, broadband fraud and the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM). Industry and Production Minister Hammad Azhar, Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry and Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari explained the meeting.
