What is e-Passport?
An e-passport, also known as an electronic passport, is a type of passport that contains an electronic chip embedded within it. This chip stores the passport holder's biometric information, such as their photograph and fingerprints, as well as their personal information, such as their name, date of birth, and nationality.
The electronic chip in an e-passport allows for greater security and makes it more difficult to forge or tamper with the passport.
It also enables for the use of automated border control, where the passport holder's biometric information is matched against the information stored on the chip, allowing for quicker and more secure border crossings.
E-passports are becoming increasingly common around the world as countries adopt this technology to improve the security and efficiency of their passport issuance process.
