Federal Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry said several efforts are being made to transform Pakistan into a manufacturing economy by promoting the “Made in Pakistan” logo.

A press conference was held by members of the federal cabinet briefing the media on the government’s biennial results. While attending the press conference, Chaudhry told media that Pakistan had become one of the largest exporters of personal protective equipment in just six months.

He also said Pakistan is currently producing 251 ventilators every month. Capacity would be increased to 700, so Pakistan could become one of the few countries to export this advanced machine.

According to him, the 2020-2021 goal was to develop agricultural reforms along modern lines. He said they planned to start 500 tech companies and promote unconventional crops to improve agricultural exports.

The goal was to create a special economic zone for the electromagnetic industry in Sialkot, Pakistan, where more advanced machines such as those for dialysis will be manufactured from 2020, according to the minister.

The minister added that Pakistan had become the largest exporter of PPPs after receiving a $ 100 million export contract. At the end of the press conference, he stated that Pakistan depended on imported medical equipment before the coronavirus outbreak.

However, Pakistan’s response to the virus outbreak is generating between $ 5 billion and $ 8 billion annually in medical equipment exports.
