OGDC Commences Gas Production in Rahim Yar Khan and Sindh

Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (PSX: OGDC) has marked a significant milestone by commencing gas production at an exploratory well in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab, and boosting production levels at the Pasakhi-7 well in District Hyderabad, Sindh.

OGDC announced the start of gas production from the Chak 212-1 exploratory well, located in the Mari East Block of the Rahim Yar Khan district, Punjab.

This landmark achievement represents the first-ever discovery in the Mari East Block, where OGDC maintains a 100% working interest.

Gas Production Details

Following the completion of a 4-inch, 14.5-km flow line connecting the well site to the Maru-1 facility, gas production has commenced with supplies directed to M/s Engro Fertilizer.

The initial supply capacity from Chak 212-1 is 2.0 MMSCFD (Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day), playing a pivotal role in meeting the region's energy needs and supporting local industries.

This development highlights OGDC's operational capabilities in identifying, exploring, and efficiently managing untapped energy resources in Pakistan.

The discovery at Chak 212-1 further strengthens the company's strategic position as a leading energy player in the region.

Production Enhancement at Pasakhi-7 Well in Hyderabad

In addition to the success in Punjab, OGDC has implemented innovative technologies to enhance production at the Pasakhi-7 well in District Hyderabad, Sindh.

The well is part of the Pasakhi Development & Production Lease (D&PL), where OGDC also holds a 100% working interest.

OGDC deployed a rig replacement for tubing and re-completed the well using an artificial lift system (Jet Pump).

This was coupled with the introduction of Multiphysio Chemical Stimulation technology, marking its inaugural use in the Southern Region.

These advanced techniques have significantly boosted production, increasing oil output from 375 barrels per day (BPD) to 520 BPD, an impressive increment of 145 BPD.

OGDC's dual achievements in Rahim Yar Khan and Hyderabad are poised to make a considerable impact on Pakistan's energy landscape.

These developments align with the company’s overarching goal of ensuring sustainable energy production and contributing to the nation's economic growth.

Key Benefits of the New Developments

  1. Energy Security: The commencement of gas production at Chak 212-1 adds a new source of supply, reducing reliance on imported energy and bolstering energy security.
  2. Economic Growth: Enhanced oil production at Pasakhi-7 well supports local industries and contributes to national economic stability.
  3. Technological Advancement: The use of innovative technologies like Multiphysio Chemical Stimulation sets a new benchmark for efficiency and resource optimization in Pakistan’s energy sector.
