Monsoon Plantation drive launched by Imran Khan

-

Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the campaign for the monsoon plantation in Kahuta on Friday.

He told the participants, "We must not only plant trees, but also save them." He added that a billion trees will be planted next year, while the government has planted 300 million trees in just two years.

The prime minister said previous governments have not taken the necessary measures to save forests that have led to the destruction of the country's green space.

He said, "We will give schoolchildren information about planting trees."

As for the coronavirus pandemic, PM said the disease was devastating in many parts of the world, claiming millions of lives. However, he mentioned that Covid-19 did not hit Pakistan as much as in other countries.

He pointed out that people should continue to follow standard procedures (SOPS) under Eid ul Azha, otherwise the country will see a further increase in the case of coronavirus, as is the case with Eid ul Fitr.

The prime minister said the decline in coronavirus cases in Pakistan is the result of the government's smart lockdown policy and SOPS monitoring.
