The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) announced that approximately 509,000 applicants were excluded from the Active Taxpayers (ATL) list because they were unable to file their tax returns before the due date or the date extended by their respective commissioners.
However, the Board of Directors made it clear that such taxpayers could be automatically included in the ATL if they paid the required ATL supplement.

"The ATL surcharge for companies is Rs 20,000. The association of individuals is Rs10,000; the ATL surcharge for individuals is 1000 rupees," a statement issued from FBR said on Tuesday.
Complete and take advantage of ATL. " Likewise, those taxpayers who were previously unable to file their 2020 tax returns will be encouraged to take advantage of ATL by filing their tax returns along with the ATL supplement, the statement said.
The Board of Directors had already published ATL for the tax year 2020 on March 1, 2021. The same is available on FBR's official website.
The number of tax returns for assessment year 2020 was 2.62 million on February 28, 2021, compared to 2.43 million for assessment year 2019 on February 28, 2020.
"The tax amount paid on the tax return for the tax year of Rs 49.6 billion is 60 percent higher than the tax amount paid on the tax return for the tax year 2019 through February 28, 2020," said FBR.
How to Submit FBR ATL Surcharge 2020
- Go to the official website of FBR e-payments site.
- Login with your credentials.
- Enter the CNIC number in select type after selecting the tax year.
- Go to the Tax payment Nature and select the Misc.
- After selecting the Misc now jump to Surcharge for ATL.
- Enter the details.
- Enter amount as mentioned above.
- Select the mode of Payment.
- Enter the mobile number and email address.
- Click on the create button.
- Submit Chsllan copy of cash is selected.
- Submit fee if online is selected from online banking.
- You have successfully submitted the ATL surcharges.
