Islamabad Police launches Crackdown againts the professional beggars

Islamabad Police launched crackdown against the professional beggars ,a part of a lawsuit against professional beggars and their helpers, police arrested up to 10,988 beggars this year, a police spokesman said Thursday.

Under the instructions of Islamabad’s DIG Operations, Waqaruddin Syed, special teams have been set up to ensure that professional beggars and their leaders are arrested and tried by registering First Information Reports (FIRs) against them.

DIG Syed said they will take strict action against beggars hanging out in commercial centers, signals and other business areas.

In addition to the detainees, a “Qalandara” was set up against 702 women, 511 men and 32 transsexuals. In addition, a total of 78 cases were registered against her, which were later referred to the competent courts.

A total of 129 children were taken to the Children’s Aid Center, while 2,941 boys, 1,788 girls, 2,797 men, 1,882 women and 206 transgender people involved in begging were taken to an Edhi home.
