Prime Minister Imran Khan formed a four-person committee on Tuesday to investigate the fuel shortage that hit millions of Pakistanis earlier this month.
The committee is chaired by Shahzad Syed Qasim, the prime minister's deputy, and includes Rashid Farooq, Asim Murtaza and Naazir Abbas Zaidi. The calling committee may, according to a message from the PM office, include other members.
The Committee will explain the effect of the price cut on petrol imports and availability.
It will identify hoarding of oil marketers, including limiting the supply of depots to stores and collecting gas stations.

The Investigation Committee will determine whether gasoline availability has been higher this year than in the corresponding months of last year and what effects a coronavirus pandemic will have on fuel availability.
It was also commissioned to analyze the role of the Petroleum Department and the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and the measures they have taken to address the fuel shortage problem.
The Committee assesses the possibility of market manipulation or cartel of OMCs or points of sale, as well as other crisis-related issues.
Several oil sales companies used pressure tactics and caused a Petrol crisis in the country, forcing people to line up a large number of gas pumps, which allowed the government to budge and raise prices.
The artificial deficit came after petroleum prices fell by Rs7 for June. The government finally seemed to give in to the OMCs after raising Petrol prices by 25.58 rupees.
