Augmented Reality Miror suggests the shades of cosmetics

With an augmented reality mirror (AR) in the new flagship store at the Amorepacific Cosmetic Power Center in Seoul, you can easily determine if this red lipstick or long lashes are right for you, even if you're wearing a face mask.

The mirror takes a photo of the customer's face and analyzes it, recommends products based on the skin's texture, and corrects any defects, wrinkles, or dark circles.

Customers can then see a computer-generated image of what they would look like with a variety of foundation, blushes, eye products and lipsticks.

"Because of the coronavirus, it was inconvenient to test cosmetics after someone used them," said 24-year-old copper Cho Yu Glue, while looking in the large mirror that said "Find your makeup look." "This is very useful because I can see the actual color of my face without touching my face."

In addition to social distance, South Korean government guidelines recommend that buyers try cosmetics on their backs rather than on their faces.

"It was frustrating because I couldn't try cosmetics on my face … but it was nice to find the product that suited me best with this AR device," 20-year-old student Song Daeye said after hours of product testing other stores.

South Korea has been praised for the way it handled COVID-19, but Asia's fourth-largest economy has had many outbreaks in recent weeks, especially in the capital.

To minimize contact with people and reduce the risk of virus spread, the store has linked QR codes to all products displayed so that customers can check the details with their mobile phone instead of talking to employees.
