Head of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) Asad Umar on Saturday released the good news that COVAX has indicated to have delivered up to 17 million doses of AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine to Pakistan in the first half of 2021.
"Good news with regard to COVID vaccines. COVAX received a letter indicating indicative delivery of up to 17 million doses of AstraZeneca in the first half of 2021," Umar wrote on Twitter.

According to the Planning Minister, six million of the 17 million cans will be in by March and deliveries will begin in February.
He did not mention dates. “We signed with COVAX almost eight months ago to ensure availability,” he added. Pakistan will receive first doses of coronavirus vaccine "within weeks"
Dr. Faisal Sultan Of the 190 participating economies, Pakistan is one of 92 eligible countries under the World Health Organization (WHO) COVAX Initiative, which "guarantees all countries, regardless of income level, quick and fair access to COVID-19 vaccines" .
Umar's announcement comes as a special aircraft is ready to deliver the first batch of coronavirus vaccines that China has given Pakistan as a gift. Special plane to bring the first batch of coronavirus vaccine from China tomorrow, NCOC said
