Pakistan is moving closer to a 5G revolution, as the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announces plans to hold the 5G spectrum auction between April and May 2024.

Speaking at a ceremony attended by Malaysian telecom officials, PTA Chairman Major General (Retd) Hafeez-ur-Rehman acknowledged the delays in Pakistan’s 5G rollout. However, he assured that the government and telecom regulators are now taking proactive measures to speed up the process.

The PTA chairman emphasized that Pakistan will leverage Malaysia’s expertise, helping ensure a smooth and efficient launch.
She highlighted that planning and consultations with key stakeholders are actively underway.
