Balochistan, Pakistan – At least nine miners lost their lives, and seven others sustained injuries after a devastating blast struck a pickup truck in the Harnai district of Balochistan on Friday, as reported by Aaj News.

The tragic incident occurred in Coal Mines Area PMDC 94, Shahrag, where a pickup truck transporting mine workers was hit by a powerful explosion. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the blast.

Rescue Operations Underway

Emergency teams rushed to the scene, transporting the bodies of the deceased and the injured workers to nearby medical facilities.

Officials have assured that immediate and top-tier medical assistance is being provided to those wounded.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives. He also directed authorities to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured workers.

“The brutal forces who harm innocent and defenceless civilians will have to pay a very heavy price,” stated PM Shehbaz, vowing strict action against terrorists.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s Statement

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack, extending condolences to the grieving families.

“Those who target innocent people are not deserving of any leniency,” remarked Naqvi, highlighting the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism from Pakistan.

Balochistan has frequently witnessed terrorist attacks targeting mine workers. In October 2023, at least 20 miners were killed, and seven others injured when armed militants attacked a private coal mine in the province.
